NaNoWriMo – Are you In?

Hi everyone!

There are just two days left of this month, November fasting approach. Yesterday, I’ve learned about National Novel Writing Month – NaNoWriMo and after some thoughts, I decided to give it a try! Yeey. I did my first step, which was to set up an account on NaNoWriMo

I am very excited about this. I know I am quite late, as on the website it says that you can start writing your novel as soon as October, but I am not worried about it. I already know what I want to write about and how.

I won’t write the rules here, as you can find it on their website, which I urge you to check it out. I will only say that you have to try it. It is a good opportunity to exercise your writing. And it’s fun, as well.

Also, I saw that you can meet and talk with other people from your region, I am currently living in Ireland, Dublin. So, is any of you living here and wants to meet and talk about each other’s ideas?

What do you think about NaNoWriMo? Will you try it this year? Have you tried it before?

Thank you for being here! And don’t forget:

  1. I wrote my first novel before I knew about NaNoWriMo, but later I participated for a couple of years, to help me change gears and get into writing my second novel. I’m a pantser, and NaNoWriMo helped me get 50 thousand words of the easy interpersonal scenes done. I write epic-length books, so I’m still researching and taking notes on that second novel, activities which are more difficult to fit into the NaNoWriMo timetable, so I haven’t been back there for a long time. But although in my experience it’s not an absolutely necessary step for a new writer, I still recommend it, because I’m a retired healthcare professional, and I believe that anything which helps people write is beneficial for their mental health. Best wishes for a successful NaNoWriMo!

  2. I participated for the first time last year but lost steam toward the end because I didn’t plan well enough. This year I made a daily schedule of what I will write every day that will hopefully keep me on track. Best of luck!

  3. I’ve never tried it, but have a coworker who writes one each year. I think I’ll have to push myself one of these years. Nov. is always one of my busiest months as I always have tons of essays to grade and parent teacher conferences to run. I’m still going to check out the website. Good luck on your piece!
