Alanna finds herself in an unknown world, her very existence a threat. Now she needs to prove her innocence or she stands to lose her entire life’s purpose…revenge.

I wish to start this review by thanking D. E. Chapman for sending me her debut book in return for an honest review. Even though I am not a huge fan of Fantasy Genre, this book helped me to see this genre from another perspective.

Fractured Past is the first book from the A Talnarin Novel Series. The main protagonist is Alanna a human girl, whose life is changing after she comes across with the Talnaris, creatures with pigmented eyes and pointy ears. There are four types of Talnaris, each type possesses a power. Alanna's life is changing after They are using her as a laboratory mouse, injecting her with all their four power. This way, she becomes the beginning of a fifth Talnaris type.

To be honest, the first part of the book was a bit boring for me. The writer switch from the present to Alanna's memories of what she had to endure when she was kept locked by Talnaris. But, something happened at a point that increased my interest in the book.

What I loved about the book is that the environmental description is very well made and the characters are well contoured. By the end of the book, I had the chance to know Alanna well enough to want to read the next book in this Series. What I loved about it, is how Alanna has embraced her new life. She struggled with it, with accepting the fact that she has become a Talnaris herself, even though she wishes to kill them all, for what they did to her. She wants to go back home but she's afraid that her family won't accept her anymore. All these feelings made her human.

For my readers, even if you aren't a huge fan of Fantasy Genre, you should read this book. I am sure that as soon as the Series will be longer, it will be very popular. Why? Because there aren't vampires, dragons, wolfs or witches. Is just something new.

Rate: Stars 3/5
